ABOUT

Dave grew up in the city of Orange, California – spending his formative years skiing in the San Gabriel mountains, surfing the 56th Street jetty in Newport Beach, and riding BMX bikes on every dirt mound and culvert he and his friends could find. At thirteen, he was gifted a subscription to Powder - The Skier's Magazine which wound up shaping the direction of his life. Inspired by Powder, he studied photography at California State University, Fullerton, determined to one day become a photographer for the title. Upon graduation with a BA in Photo Communications, he knocked on the door at skiing’s most celebrated and soulful publication.
Today, as Powder's Director of Photography, Dave is globally recognized throughout the action sports and outdoor adventure realm for his visual aesthetic. Over nearly three decades, he has photographed and curated the images in print and digital platforms at both Powder and Bike titles.
In 2013, he was chosen by ESPN as one of the Fifty Most Influential People in Action Sports. Through his own photographic work, along with his collaborations with the world’s top action and adventure photographers, these magazines hold a reputation for the absolute best imagery in all of outdoor adventure media. They’ve won many national media awards including Powder’s 2017 ASME nomination for Best Photography and various Ellie, Maggie and WPA awards related to photography, design, and storytelling.
Dave lives in San Clemente, California with his wife Michele and their two children. He enjoys watching his kids develop their own love for the sports that have given him so much joy and purpose.
